Let the Right One In DVD update
It has recently been discovered that Magnolia Home Entertainment has released the North American dvd/blue-ray with incorrect English subtitles. The company intentionally dumbed down or “simplified” the language from the orginial theatrical release. This of course has upset many fans who have inturn flood Magnolia Home Entertainment with hate mail. According to Icons of Fright Magnolia Entertainment responded by saying:
“We’ve been made aware that there are several fans that don’t like the version of the subtitles on the DVD/BR. We had an alternate translation that we went with. Obviously a lot of fans thought we should have stuck with the original theatrical version. We are listening to the fans’ feedback, and going forward we will be manufacturing the discs with the subtitles from the theatrical version. Unfortunately, as of now, those who have already purchased LET THE RIGHT ONE IN will not be able to trade in the first pressing for a replacement. There are no exchanges. We are going to make an alternate version available, however. For those that wish to purchase a version with the theatrical subtitles, it will be called out in the tech specs box at the back/bottom of the package where it will list SUBTITLES: ENGLISH (Theatrical), SPANISH.”
So if you are interested in buying this dvd but haven’t, you might want to wait for a little while.
